:: Acid Rainbows ―― Nothing in the Rain
Acid Rainbows is my first attempt at making a Rivals of Aether custom character.
Having gone in blind with no assistance, developing her made me realize how simple implementing a basic character for RoA is.
Having high mobility, basic attacks, and not having much stand-out gimmicks, she is a relatively basic character to play as... Well, if you can handle the speed!
Rack up some damage with her Acid-Raincloud, and catch them off-guard with a lightning!
Character design by Kaggysmilk! Without this character, I would not be where I am now.

:: Lumina ―― Wizardry of the Dawn
Lumina Methuselah Flowlight is my unplanned 2nd custom character, who has gone on to become one of my iconic characters, despite being intended to be a side character as an OC.
Lumina is a young girl using light magic, which, in RoA, she uses to send out unique special attacks, many of them assisting her in middle- and long-range combat!
She may be a child, but her basic attacks are not to be underestimated. With her floaty movement and great recovery options, you would not want to face her near the blastzone!

:: Reckless Safety Notice Man
"it would be funny if i made Reckless Safety Notice Man before N/A actually releases" - Hyuponia, 2020/08/31
This is the result of me ending up doing just that.
The (in)famous character who is in every single Wii game ever made, Reckless Safety Notice Man is a silhouette man with a moveset mostly based on that one image that says "Vote Reckless Safety Notice Man for Smash".
With his recklessness and his trusty wiimote, he is sure to wreck the competition just as he wrecks your TV! His gimmick is removing the Wii Remote's safety strap... Don't try this at home!

:: Careless Safety Notice Woman

A semi-echo character of Reckless Safety Notice Man, based on an another silhouette character from Nintendo Switch Sports! When we first saw it. It was fate.
This is all Reiga's work! I have decided to put it here as a shout-out. I did make the base sprite and assisted with the jab animation, though! -- Reiga has a website! Check it out: [Hyperlink]

:: N/A ―― Nihil's Descent
Appearing from the depths of the Endless Abyss (unofficially), N/A is an original character made to fit within the settings of Rivals of Aether. After almost a year of development, N/A has become my magnum opus, even now many years after its release back in 2020.
N/A is the trickiest character to play as among my characters, revolving around its slow movement, and its threatening long-range special attacks.
Set up void bubbles to counter any melee attacks, and electrify them while you are charging a destructive, abyssal laser.
When everything is set up right, N/A is a devastating foe to face against.
With the After All update at June 20th 2025, N/A is better than ever. Competitive balance are very stable and satisfactory, and much of its visual aspects have gone through amelioration, some animations even receiving entire redo's.
No regrets. No stones unturned. Just it, and its opponent, face to face at last. Welcome to our grand design.

:: Natsumi ―― Flash's Final Step!
From a 2003 Japanese Flash animation classic "Natsumi Step!" by Minoru Takehara, Andoh Natsumi travels to the world of RoA to wreck things with her somehow-iconic crowbar!
Released last minute before Adobe Flash gets actively stopped from loading in most browsers, as my tribute to the wonderful world of Flash animations.
Having a moveset both close and long-range, Natsumi is an all-rounder character you may find easy to play as!

:: Ao ―― The Startrail Whirlwind, Another Waking Twilight
Initially created in a week and a half, Ao is an original character formerly made for someone else's some sort of OC character world. Let's not worry about that.
Ao is the lone blue tulip in my custom stage "Starry Hilltop", or at least something similar.
She has a moveset identical to Acid Rainbows', but with all-new specials and few different normals, and has a gimmick, defining her whole gameplay!
Though she may be a bit slow, her specials allows her to dance around the opponent at incredible speed. Though she is relatively simple to play as even without using her specials, she can be very, very action-intensive if you let her!
I don't know why I'm so fond of her as I am but I certainly do like her

:: Explorer ―― Denizen of Many Lands
A default character from a browser sandbox game called Manyland, Explorer was created as a sort of a parting gift, a tribute, to a world where I was once in.
Many user-created contents in that game has been adapted into a interpreted sprite by me, which Explorer uses in many things he does. Most of the basic movement has been adjusted to work similar to the game he is from as well, but not too much to deviate away from Rivals of Aether gameplay.
People there didn't care, though. Oh well. Farewell to Manyland.

:: Jirachi ―― The Wishing Star
A collab with my friend Spider101, Jirachi is a Pokémon from the Pokémon franchise (of course), who we made into a RoA custom character for RoA Workshop's community jam "Pokéjam"!
Like a true shooting star, here, Jirachi is portrayed as a very aerial-focused character, being able to jump multiple times, having floaty movement, and use strong attacks in the air!
They currently have a reputation to possibly be the strongest of my characters, such as being able to edgeguard with ease.
Regardless of balance, I think they've turned out to be a very fun character to play as!

:: Madotsuki ―― The Wandering Dream
Madotsuki, from the cult classic videogame Yume Nikki, made into a custom character for RoA Workshop's community jam "RPGMaker Jam"!
A collab character with Spider101, Parsee, and me. Together we have put together a wonderful character I'd say!
Summon her door to the dreams for pressuring stage control, and use her many Effects for movement and unique attacks - turn the battlefield into your own lucid dream!

:: Usher ―― To Enjoy the Rain
After a year of believing that was gonna be it for making new characters... Here I was again, I suppose.
Somehow ended up making her playable for the All-Star Heroines community character pack, Usher Evalate is an OC very near and dear to my heart.
Gameplay-wise, she plays more or less like my Smash Bros main Dr. Mario, but with many unique twists of course. The moveset may be similar, but maybe what matters more are the specials and how you use them...!?
Well, maybe the moveset aren't so similar anyway, after all, she has an umbrella for a weapon.
Just like the Marios, she's overall a simple character to use, perhaps more than any other character of mine. Easy to pick up, and all that! I'm sure you'll have an enjoyable time playing as her.

It's been an interesting experience, having made a character so important to me be playable and scrutinized.
It's like at one point, a character stops being mine. Only the people who know how to play knows what works.
Oh well. As one Japanese proverb goes. "If you love your child, let them out into the world".
Guess I gotta let her be free.

:: Ràiné Fontaine (Raine) ―― Echo Fighter Of Usher From Usher's Old Version Because There Was Some Demand For The Old Moveset
Ràiné is...... well, I suppose that long name (it is the name on steam workshop) should explain what she is, wouldn't it?
Some time in 2025, I decided to upgrade Usher and also replace some of her moves that I was quite unsatisfied with, especially special moves.
But since that meant it changed a lot of her gameplay, some people were a bit sad. Well, I was like, well maybe I could recolor Usher a bit and upload an old version as a separate character? Oh, maybe I can tweak this part of her real quick. Oh, maybe some of that... Oh... she's a whole separate character now.
Not in a gameplay sense, she's basically just Usher's Echo Fighter. Most of the same normals, and all that.
But now that Ràiné has become her own character and is a Separate thing from Usher, I'm much more comfortable with keeping the specials I wasn't really satisfied with giving to Usher, onto Ràiné's hands instead.
Ràiné is all about grabs! And FSpecial land-cancels. Freeze your opponents!
And most importantly, she is not Usher nor is she biologically related in any way.

:: SSL Nisae The Bloodharpy ―― MORTEM OBIRE
Before Usher released, though, I whipped this up for a SSL character pack people were making.
SSL, either Super Smash Land or Super Small Lads, is a character standard based off of Dan Fornace's previous work, a Smash Bros fangame called, well, Super Smash Land.
It's designed to be made for Game Boy, meaning less buttons, so characters are designed with much fewer attacks and base mechanics to work with. But that also means creators only have to make less animations!

Nisae is my OC created for Spider101 and eck$'s OC Universe, Reaper's Warning.
So, SSL Nisae, is what would colloquially be called an "Install" character, where the character would turn into a whole another, usually much stronger version, of themselves, after great effort.
Nisae will build up a Grudge meter upon taking damage or missing your attacks near your opponent. You can use Neutral Attack to Guard yourself, keeping the Grudge gain but taking less damage.
Once she has enough Grudge, she can unleash the bloodharpy forme. Scream out for the heavens that won't grieve for you.

Anyways yeah I was not in a good place when I made this. I guess it's good that I can look back and say that now.

:: Slender Man ―― THE FOLKL⦻RE
When I was younger, I really enjoyed browsing horror stuff on Youtube, and among them were of course the Slenderman-involved Unfictions. Not just the famous ones, I even dug deeper to see more niche Slenderman stuff as well.
So when I heard that the upcoming workshop jam was a Horror Jam... I felt that Someone had to make the O.G. king of all internet folklore horrors, and if no one's gonna do it, I would.
...Gosh did I feel the hurt of burnout as I've done it, but welp, that's that.

Created for the workshop community's Horror Jam, Slender Man's core gameplay was designed with "Don't get close" in mind. Everything to make opponents fear to approach him, while having all the tools to get close, or making your opponents come to you.
Slenderman was always a sort of unmoving, looming presence in the background and I loved that about him, so it didn't feel right to let him move around so much at all.
Slenderman can do all the classic moves, like teleporting behind you, or dragging you towards him with his tentacles, all the while inflicting you with the enigmatic Slender Sickness.
Somehow turned out to be the character I personally really, really enjoy playing as for some reason??
Strike fear into your opponents, and get into their mind. Slender Man is no joke!

:: The Rolling Giant
The Rolling Giant rolls in, ever forlorn.
If you've seen Kane Pixels' webseries The Oldest View, you'd pretty much know everything about this one... It's an april fools character.
Your Iceberg Boy won't stop me from unleashing Mr. The Oldest Hugs into Rivals of Aether

A delightful little cat with a giant tail. Lux has a lightning orb artifact that Lux just plays around with.
