index > workshop > other stuff and community contributions i didnt know how else to word it

This page lists all the smaller Rivals of Aether Steam Workshop things or contributions of many kinds I've made so far.
Whether that be silly tiny things, or tools, utilities, templates, guides, it'll be listed here.

Maybe it's a bit weird of me to list em up in one place like this, especially the odd ones like code templates, but hey, since I'm not including some of these in other categories, I figured this could be a category page that may be cool to be made.
And I really think our Wikimanual especially deserves the shoutout somewhere! And I feel it really needs the spreading-the-word to be known of its existance in any ways I can, so here it is

For the other kinds of RoA Workshop creations I've made, Go back to the Workshop hub?

:: Rivals of Aether Unofficial Workshop Manual (a.k.a. Wiki-manual)

A Website/Wiki over on Miraheze.
- :: Visit on your browser! :: -

So over in the land of workshop, we've always had this pretty well-made documentation on the official website that we've used for a long time, but as the time passes it was more and more noticeable that things were either a bit off, or lacking, or outdated. Sometimes it was just flat out wrong.
One day, I and a few others have taken it upon ourselves to make our own branch of the manual, in form of a Wiki! Free online encyclopedia where anyone can edit.
With new sections and explanations, and even a page for community-made guides, we aim this wiki-manual to be a great reference point for anyone to gather info from, or write down information you have in.

TLDR: More updated, fanmade version of the manual!

Timesaver or headache-saver
:: Hitbox Helper Buddy Thing

A Tool in form of a Workshop Buddy.
:: Subscribe from Steam Workshop! ::

The workshop manual introduced us to Dan Fornace's very own tool for hitboxes, hurtboxes and origin points, but it was full of flaws.
With my workshop knowledge I figured that something would be possible within the the game itself, so I made it into a Buddy form.
You can resize and relocate hitboxes and origin points with your own mouse cursor, with accurate visualization, and you can see it in action, in real time!
Just like with Dan's tool, you'll still have to put in the numbers to your code yourself, of course, but since if you're doing hitbox stuff, you're probably already doing trial-and-error inside the game already anyway, it should make more sense if you could adjust it right inside the game, right?
Step up your workshop development with this little tool, today!

It's ancient!
:: RoA Colors.gml Helper/Generator

A Tool that works on a Browser.
- :: Visit on your browser! :: -

I didn't make this tool, to be clear, I'm just its representitive/messanger, the author wants to stay a bit anonymous.
While I was making Acid Rainbows for my first character, I was looking at the colors.gml page of the manual and was thinking hey, this is a whole lotta math, I kinda don't wanna wrap my head around it.
I happened to have a close friend who was a programmer so I asked them, hey, can you make a tool to automate this? Well, this was born!
Shockingly, it has stayed more or less the same for the past 6 years or so. Guess no need to fix what isn't broken!
And hey, if it's inadequate, you can fork it and stuff. It's so open source, they even licensed it under Unlicense! (a do-whatever-you-want license)

No more scrolling things one by one!
:: RoA Order.roa Sorter

A Tool that works on a Browser.
- :: Visit on your browser! :: -

I didn't make this tool either, to be clear, the same with Colors.gml tool.
I asked the same friend if they could make something about the order.roa file because it was so, so annoying to use the in-game sorting thing! Here it is, pretty convenient interface.
They ran out of juice though, so it's kind of unfinished. Stage sorting page is pretty much ideal, but character sorting page is a bit of an afterthought. Keep that in mind!

Movin' up! Down! Left! Right!
:: Moving Platform Template
A super belated-into-workshop's-life-cycle template!
Moving platforms were always a bit of an odd thing in workshop, where sometimes it failed to carry players and objects on top of it, depending on the implementation.
Having messed around with workshop stages for a while, I've figured out that the problem was that well, platforms need to move with the velocity variable, but if the variable was not rounded, it would not carry players correctly.
This platform system aims to solve just that, by having a fake coordinate that it keeps track of, which it tries to follow by using only rounded velocity.

More emphasis on CIRCULAR
:: CIRCULAR Moving Platform Template
I would think this isn't a new invention, but it might be when combined with the rounded speed thing I did for the platform template.
The platform follows a circle path! Many adjustable settings inside!
It can even move a half-circle! even a quarter-circle! 0.75-circle?? Anything may be possible!

:: Hyuponia's CSS Template

A Code Snippet Template on Pastebin.
- :: See on Pastebin! :: -

The CSS color select visualizer thing I have for all my characters. You can use it, too!
The goal of this CSS template is to be unintrusive as possible. So it's pretty clean, and you may have noticed many other authors using it as well.
It even supports playing audio on color change too, be fancy with it!

:: Playtest Changelog Template

A Code Snippet Template on Pastebin.
- :: See on Pastebin! :: -

Not many people actually check the changelog pages allll the way on the steam workshop page!!
To solve this issue, I put changelog right where it's accessible, in playtest! Especially online, you can read up on new changes before the match starts. In addition, online playtest is way bigger than local playtest, so there's so much reading that can be done!

Random is too random
:: Music Select Template

A Code Snippet Template on Pastebin.
- :: See on Pastebin! :: -

I really didn't like how the 4-music random select felt too repetitive sometimes, so I made something that you can choose the music on matchstart with the C-stick/rightstick.
Unfortunately I guess keyboard players usually don't have rightstick inputs assigned so it might not work well for them... I really shoulda considered that when I made this way back when.

Guadua is underrated
:: Guaduaish Article Base

A Code Snippet Template on the Wikimanual.
- :: See on the Wikimanual! :: -

This mostly isn't even my code, referencing Guadua's for the most part, but I needed to fill this grid space in this page and I figure templates are useful.
A starting point I use for all my articles. It includes a LOT of comments, hopefully they may be of use to anyone starting out.

blue
:: blue background
I made this for one of those chroma-keying/greenscreening purposes, but rivals actually kind of just added ways to do it in-game at one point, so this stage's kind of redundant.
But it stays up nonetheless, for when it might just fill some sort of niche use case!
