This page lists all the Rivals of Aether Steam Workshop Custom Stages I've made so far.
There's a whole lot here. It's been like 7 years! (as of 2026) and Stages have always been my main thing!
No joke, I initially came to Rivals Workshop just to make stages. Stages are my pride and joy!

I said publicly in places that I would make Poke Floats if stage coding finally comes to workshop. And welp, I made an oath and I saw it through.
A fully functional Poké Floats recreation in Rivals of Aether!
...Well, not FULLY fully functional actually, Pokemon here DOES move like in Melee but doesn't "animate", especially Slowpoke's tail, which is a common complaint.

This stage is the home stage for Archarid, by Barney, who also programmed the stage's gimmick!

Another favorite of mine.
A clock tower built anew in 2021, it stands tall overlooking a snowy city.
Drifting snow from the sky, the dusk of the stars and clouds, and the steady heartbeat of the clock, the time.
I put so much effort in the background scenery but it's like barely visible because the clocktower covers everything, which is a shame cause im quite proud of the background

Formerly known as "guys help me out does this crash", I speedran making this stage just to test out a code that was crashing me. Turns out it was a really, really specific case that crashed me in specific, that was interesting
I asked for an idea in Extended Workshop community then just picked the first idea that was given to me, and went from there.
I made a Speedpaint/Timelapse out of the process! Making it only took me a few hours

Stage commissioned by Mallow for their character, Commando from Risk of Rain!
I get a lot of praises for this stage, but honestly all the credit goes out to the original environmental artists for Risk of Rain Returns, of which I've based the stage's aesthetic on, though of course I did customly sprite everything.
Has a last stock variant based on how the stage looks in the final phase of Providence!
Mallow also did some extra programming to give it an extra flair. Check it out!

Made as an art trade with NitroAnilin, this is a stage based on a concept for Battlefield equivalent for "FilthyFred: Key of Fate" Mashup Tournament!
Quite proud of this stage. It's been ready for a good long while before release, but it was waiting for the right moment of the tournament project, which NitroAnilin was a part of the team of. Until I asked one day and things started moving again!

I made Tempest Peak bald.
A stage in the base-game of Rivals of Aether, "Tempest Peak" was a stage with notoriously wide and weird platform layout, and also a giant mountain in the middle that really cluttered the view.
With the power of stage skins by the means of base-game file modding, I felt like I could do something about that, so I did
Ain't just a simple edit, I drew some parts all custom! But a lot of it is still unchanged from what the original artist of the stage has made, of course.

:: Treetop Lodge Retake
I peeled Treetop Lodge.
The stage "Treetop Lodge" in Rivals of Aether was one of the earliest stages in the game, and remaining unchanged to this day, it has really peculiar oddities that sticks out from the rest of the stage list.
One day I was playing on the stage, and i felt it was a bit busy on the eye, and then I just... started sketching.
The entire ground layer is re-drawn customly, along with the big main tree. The color palette is mostly retained though, and the entire background is the same as base-game.

You see it, right? Yep! You saw this just a bit ago. This is Treetop Lodge Retake again! Well, not so fast!
I figured I could just port it over in workshop stage form, but I could do a bit more than that...!
After a bunch of changes and a whooole new background and concept, now the Treetop Lodge has been peeled, unearthed, and put into a whole desert.
It turned out pretty ok, and hey, a great excuse to put more music I like into the game!

:: SSL: Nemesis
A SSL (Super Smash Land/Super Small Lads) Stage, an original stage set on a rooftop of an urban skyscraper.
Y'know this is actually repurposing a concept I had for a reskin of the base-game stage "Pridemoor Keep", I guess I wanted to try it out here but never ended up doing the original concept.
Aw well, the more I can use the music I intended for, the better! The stage inspired by track "Nemesis" by DBOYD.

A part of my 3-SSL-stage "Interstellar Retribution" pack!
A burning civilization, looking over it all is this stage, or is it a creature? Blasphemy befalls all.
I really like the platform layout for this stage, it moves in a triangle pattern and disappears into the ground at one point. I think it's quite unique.

Your heart led to the sight of two stars aligning
A part of my 3-SSL-stage "Interstellar Retribution" pack!
"Final Destination" inspired stage, with no platform and ridiculous exaggerated background. I think it's quite cool but it's so busy and cluttered that no one wants to play on it. Oh well, the price of fancy, I suppose.
My stages are usually inspired by the music that plays on the stage, but very especially the stages in this pack. It's the stage's namesake and everything!

My favorite SSL stage, looks quite cool, has cool music, and has unique platform movement - So much so that I'd just play on it with normal characters! It just works.
I think the inspirations for this stage seems pretty obvious, but is different enough that it stands on its own! Well, I hope atleast.

A twisted reality where monsters roam and prey on the world.
...Our SSL pack came so late in the SSL resurgence that everyone had kinda already stopped playing SSL by that point. Some people are still vehemently (and unhealthily) advocating for only playing on SSL, but like. I dunno we can coexist, we don't have to fight eachother. But it is still quite sad that we've gotten overlooked like this. Welp, such is the cycle of trends.

:: Outer Wall Downpour
Outside Fire Capitol's walls, the patrol path is under heavy rain, downpour.
I whipped up this stage in like 2 hours just to use it in Usher's trailer!!! It's not even her home stage!!!
On the other hand, I did make a Speedpaint/Timelapse of it. Check it out!
Not my best work, but it serves the purpose. If you're curious about my process this can be cool, but I'd say Frozenbreath Ruin's timelapse is much better of a reference

Stage by Lukarune Team

A playable deltarune-style RPG within Rivals of Aether.
I made a LOT of assets for this through a long dang time. I carried the overworld map making.
The game's kind of tainted now with the presence of cancelled people. Guess that's the caveat of "game made with a friend group and features the friends themselves."
Though I do still have a bit of a soft spot for Lukarune, given I was present as a character as well, and I could achieve one of my dreams to be a Deltarune Secret Boss. Is that worth the caveat to play through this game today, though? I have no idea. You be the judge of that.
If you do play Lukarune, though, then please find the mask for me. Look around after fighting a bunch of ink.

I was a late addition to the team. I made a lot of concept art, which, together with Batit's wonderful spritework for my concepts, got scrapped.
Me and Batit did get something in though, and it's the final boss arena.
Be a part of something big, and you may come out finding yourself disappointed.
All that, and no one's been brave enough to dive in to making anything with this complicated API anyway.

Boss arena from Hallowflame, where you fight Rykenburn who's tapped into the power of Abyss.
I made the concept art for this stage, which Batit beautifully realized it into pixel art.
Took me a while but I eventually asked the team and I was able to salvage it into a standalone stage.

Welcome to the Brook Bazaar

One of the most ambitious project for Rivals of Aether, it's a PVP Roguelike gamemode in form of a stage!
I offered to do the stage art, of course it's a replayable experience so I made a bunch of different variants that it can cycle through. Maybe it's a bit too surreal, but I think it gives it a bit of a unique identity, it's kind of like a hologram.
Gamemode is fun! Especially with people. Highly recommended!
